The Harmony 900 can replace all infrared remotes controls in your house. With this remote you will be able to control all of your entertainment audio visual devices. Whether you want to listen to music, watch a movie on surround sound or watch the television you’ll be able to do so with the use of just one remote control, at the click of a button. This remote has a touch screen that is easy to use, even for those without much technological understanding. It takes out the complexity of everything! Once it’s set up you don’t need to remember the correct settings, everything will be automatically turned on and set for you.

To set up the remote you need a computer with an internet connection. Attach the remote to your computer with the included USB cable. Install the system software that’s supplied and follow the set up guide. The set up guide is easy to follow, although allow at least an hour because it does take time to register each device to the remote and configure it. When you want to update the software it’s a breeze, all you do is load the software, run the update, connect the remote control to your computer and click to update it.

The remote control is a well designed ergonomic shape, with sculpted buttons that feel nice to press and it’s full colour touch screen is of a good resolution. What makes this remote control stand out from Logitech’s other remotes is its infrared ability. You don’t need to point the remote to use it, which means it functions with audio visual equipment that is enclosed in a cabinet or even in the room next door.

The Logitech Harmony 900 is great and far better then the Nuvo remote it replaced. The remote has great distance, as I use it at least 100 ft from my A/V, and I do not have to point the remote at my A/V for it to work. I also like the light up screen. This Logitech Harmony 720 Universal remote is great. It works well – it does everything it says it will do. It’s easy to use and it’s let me get rid of a whole bunch of remotes, replacing it with just this one. The remote feels nice. The buttons are responsive and the display is
easy to read. This remote comes with a rechargeable battery, which
charges fast and the charge last a long time.

Setting up the remote was simple. I downloaded the software, ran through the set up guide, selected the makes of my audio visual equipment and choose the models from the lists. The software then automatically connected everything for me. I customised a few things, such as renaming the Activities – a nice feature, meaning you can personalise this remote to suit you 100%.

The whole set up process, from opening the box to completion took me around about an hour and a half. After this I could get rid of loads of remotes and use this one remote to access the X Box, TV, DVD, Stereo etc by pressing one button. After pressing the one button to watch the TV, the television powers up as does the satellite box and the speakers. This made things a bit more calm in the house as my partner who used to struggle with the set up can now do everything he wants by pressing one button.

This is obviously a well thought out product. I purchased one yesterday, spent 45 minutes programming it online, and promptly shelved 4 remotes in the process. The build quality is top notch, buttons are well lit and assignable to whatever you want them to be (the unit programs them itself; however, you can override if desired).
I didn’t think I could find a remote to replicate all of the buttons on my Time Warner cable DVR remote (Scientific Atlanta brand), but this baby does it all. I couldn’t imagine paying upwards of $1000 for some of the ones I’ve seen for sale, when this one can control up to fifteen devices (even light dimming modules).
And the best part is that Logitech’s database of remote controlled devices ( which this remote utilizes) is continually updated, so even if you buy a new component 3 years from now, you will be able to control it via this unit. A+A+A+A+ Read Original Review

I bought this remote yesterday. When setting up my home theater system that I’d stored several years ago, I could no longer locate the remote controls for my components. After several non productive calls to Onkyo I decided to give the Logitech remote a try, hoping that they would have the correct codes to run my system. After I ran the easy to use software, the remote works much better than I had hoped. It’s smart enough to set up all of your activities such as turn on TV, Sound System and DVD with the push of one button. I have no hesitation in recommending this fine product With the docking station the days of dead batteries and a table crowded with a collection of remotes are over!

The Logitech Harmony 650 Remote lets you control up to five devices, so as well as making your life that little bit easier, you also make it clutter free by replacing the five different remote controls with this one master controller. This Harmony remote works with over 225,000 components from 5,000 brands, so it should work with every audio visual device in your home. Logitech are also always updating the technology as new products come onto the market, so it won’t go out of date.

Set up is relatively straight forward. All you have to do is connect the remote to your computer using the supplied USB cable, use the online software and follow the set up guide. You search brands, then select your device from the list and the software will automatically set up your remote. You tell the remote what buttons you want to control each device, such as “Watch DVD”, “Listen to Music”, “Watch TV” etc. It took me just over an hour to set up all five of my devices, but now that they’re set up that’s it there’s nothing more to it.

The remote control is well designed. The layout is clear to follow and if you ever get stuck there is on screen help. The buttons are back lit, so when you’re watching a film with the lights off you’re not scrambling around trying to find the pause button. This is a simple design feature but it makes the remote very easy to see and use. The buttons are responsive.

I’ve owned the Harmony 659, 670 and 880… this one takes the cake. The button response is great and the button placement is wonderful. The 659 buttons are horrible and un-naturally placed. Configuring this remote was cake and worked right out of the box.
The only difference between this remote and the 700 is the 700 has built-in rechargeable batteries… not worth the extra $$ in my opinion.

The remote is fancy looking, lightweight and styled in an ergonomic design with a thinner front and thicker bottom back. The buttons are well marked and very easy to use.

This remote has simplified what used to be a complicated TV and movie watching setup – I used to have to press several different buttons on several different remotes before I could get the DVD and surround sound speakers to play, but that all changed when we bought this remote. I now press just one button.

The buttons that I use on the remote are:

  1. watch TV

  2. watch a movie and

  3. listen to music.

For the one click buttons to work, you have to program the remote – it takes about 40 minutes to program all five devices. To do this you go to the Logitech website and select your make and model of TV, DVD player, stereo etc. and hey presto – the remote knows exactly what to do!

From this moment on my five entertainment devices have been controlled by the one remote, at the touch of a single button. Only having the one remote makes it much easier – I was always losing the DVD remote as I didn’t use it very often, but now I don’t have to search to find the lost remote. I will never go back to having more than one remote control.

This is a steal at this price.
The unit is sleek, easy to hold and the buttons are very responsive. It replaced 5 of my old remotes including one for a surround sound system that was driving me nuts as the keys (and writing) were miniscule. It comes with a micro USB to USB cable as well as a set of Duracell batteries (usually things like this come with a set of the cheapest batteries around).
Setting it up is a cinch and all you have to do is connect it to the USB port of your computer – in my case a Mac running OSX 10.5.8 There is no SW disc inside the box and you have to download it but that means you get the updated version right away. (as well as not having to store away yet another s/w CD).
Keying in the 5 AV units (Logitech calls them “Devices”) I had was easy and so was setting up what I wanted to do with them (Logitech calls these “Activities”). The menus are simple and easy to follow with lots of prompts and help as you go through them. There is a cool “troubleshoot” option, which sorted out a couple of things for me quickly and easily.
It took me about 30 minutes to set it up initially and then another 15 minutes to tweak it. Updating the settings on the remote went without a hitch and I am now very happy. Many times I wouldn’t bother switching on the surround sound system when watching a DVD (just one more remote to find and a few more buttons to press). Now I can do everything with a single press!

The Logitech Harmony 890 Advanced Universal Remote is something I would recommend to anyone who watches TV. The Harmony 890 is a fine example of the highest quality, cutting edge remote available on the market today. This Logitech Harmony 890 remote is able to control any and all devices you may have in your house, even household appliances and overhead lighting. One of the most notable features is that people who keep their electronics in a closed cabinet will not have to rearrange their setup, or even open their cabinet doors to use the remote. The reason behind this is because the Harmony 890 does not require a direct “line of sight” in order to function properly.

Most of us who have had any other similar products have probably been unfortunate enough to purchase a remote that didn’t support one of your TV’s or other electronic device. This will not be a problem with the Harmony 890. It is extremely compatible, over 5,000 manufacturers and over 175,000 devices are supported. The remote is also update-able, so that new codes can be added to the “digital library”. One of the most high tech features is the help button. If you ever have technical difficulties, the remote will be able to diagnose the problem for you. In order to further to ease of use, the Harmony 890 has a large color display, with easy to use buttons. For example, it has several buttons, labeled with activities.
